From Remnants to Roses

In 1992, from the basement of her home, Sharon Turner began a business that has become a multi-million dollar home textiles manufacturing company. Sharon and husband Robert (“Bob”), both employed at the time, decided to embark on a new business venture manufacturing embroidered anthropomorphic dog pillows designed and created by Bob. They quit their jobs, pooled their resources, and made the undertaking a true family affair by employing their son, daughter, nephew and even Bob’s mother to help establish Chateau Home Furnishings.

Over several years, the family produced thousands of embroidered pillows. All the while, visions of creating luxury bedding, table linens and accessories prodded the Turner’s to grow the business in a different direction. The decision was made to expand the company’s exposure to include the major retailers across the country. This leap of faith launched Chateau into a hungry market, and by the close of 2000 sales had skyrocketed.

With passion, hard work and the aggressive design talent, the Chateau name increasingly became synonymous with creating classic, elegant decorative home products. Soon, the products offered by Chateau were acknowledged by America’s most prestigious retailers as among the best in the industry.

The tragedy of 9/11 had taken its toll on the textiles industry and Chateau fell victim to a stagnant market.
While sitting in a colleague’s office weighing the options for Chateau’s future or demise, Sharon experienced a defining moment. “God has not brought me this far to fail,” she said.

Through prayer and trust in God, the Turner’s renewed their passion and determination to take Chateau to a new level. The advice and direction of trusted business associates helped the company maintain design and product development in-house while outsourcing their major production. This move led to the launch of the new luxury line of home textile products called “Bella Rose by Chateau.”

Proof that with a stitch of optimism, a thimble-full of hope and several yards of prayer, life really can come up roses.
